Pirate Trials: Famous Murderous Pirates by Ken RossignolA very good read to let us anticipate more to come in the series - an in-depth look at the men who risked their life and limb to accumulate wealth and improve their circumstance. We are given a glimpse of a time when a man could be patriot and create a legacy or hanged depending on whether the deeds were performed for country or for self. There are several examples of historical figures who were called pirates by the countries they plundered for their "King/Queen"
It does us well to remember that the "Captains" in this book were seamen whose sole qualifications to hold the title were ready wit,a clear head, and maybe that certain indefinable "power of the eye," that is the birth- right of all leaders.
The Pirate Trials dealt with a selected few cases pirates who were caught, tried and sentenced to death for murderous deeds.
These were a few selected details of the trials of each of these pirate's captains; they were short brief and quick to execute the swashbuckling killers.
These account of their very brief trials bring to life the work of Captain Charles Johnson, who might be difficult to pin down as to whether he was an actual person or perhaps an assortment of authors.
This was a time when a man could create a personas under aliases, keeping their real names and families safe. One can be certain that the work from published accounts leads to this day. The stories are told of we're do well and strong-willed men who dared to plunder and justly met their rewards, and mostly at the end of a rope. Many notable and wealthy families today are sure to be descendants of a pirate or two.
After this book, I am looking forward to reading more about the exploits and judgements for these men with colorful names and cocky attitudes.

Pirate Trials Famous Murderous Pirates Book Series The Lives and Adventures of Famous and Sundry Pirates (Audible Audio Edition) Huggins Point Editors Jack Chekijian Kenneth C Rossignol Books Reviews
I confess that I am a sucker for a good historical novel, especially one with this type of setting. The narrative is grounded in good research and, as a result, the plot is quite believable. I enjoyed seeing these rascals get their comeuppance. Well written and engaging.
Sitting an my Chesapeake Bayside window reading these collected tales and brings life to the distant Hampton, Virginia harbor where Black Beard's head was posted (literaly). When I read the actual excerpts of the trials and executions of the time in history...I wonder why summary deadly punishment isn't still in vogue?
I like a nice story about Pirates that isn't another humorous roundabout story-line. Ken sets this very excellent book real pirates in the topsail schooner days with the stories that correlate. I love the layout and this is a great way to tell its story.
I'm a huge fan of Rossignol's books; he puts such a great deal of research and thought into them and I feel like I learn so much history all while being entertained at the same time. This was definitely one of my favorites from him! I actually haven't read too much about real pirates (mostly fictional ones), but this was so interesting to read. It's several different stories about real life pirates and their crimes. I really enjoyed seeing some pictures and drawings throughout that had been taken at the time.
I became a of fan of author Ken Rossignol's pirate books after reading one of his earlier 'Pirate Trials" volumes that chronicled some pretty awesome pirate battles. There is much to tell about pirates and Rossignol knows where to look for the most credible accounts. This latest book is a wonderful series of accounts of a dozen famous pirates and their crews. The reader is taken onto the ships and into the deadly adventures of such pirates as Captain Avery, William Kidd and Captain Teach - or Blackbeard himself. This was an exciting historical account that makes me only want to know more.
Ken Rossignol proves to be a reliable source with his next installment in his "Pirate Trials" series. This is the first one I have read and I have fallen hard to the dangerous men of the sea. I am a fan of "Pirates of the Caribbean", but I've always wanted to know about the real pirates and what they did.
I honestly think everyone should learn about Pirates and these books are a fantastic way to start. The author transports you back in time. Walk the starboard bow with legendary pirates of history as we experience what they did and whom they conquered.
I'm definitely going to read the rest of the series! If you are a fan of pirates, pick up this series!
What an amazing source (and treasure trove) of real pirate stories. Trickery, murder, and thievery abound. The pages seemed to fly by and I was a little surprised when I flipped over the very last page. There's a dozen fascinating historical stories in this volume. Some feature well-known villainous men such as Blackbeard himself or Kidd.
Perfect for lovers of history, nautical feats, and a good old-fashioned pirate stories. You might just fine a story that really tickles your spine and makes you curl up your toes. Definitely, this is an intriguing collection.
