I wish all books were like this! How beautiful! I guess they don't make 'em like they used to.

Does anyone else get tired of violent scene after nail biter and a cliffhanger at the end of every chapter in so-called "children's" books? This book proves that you don't need all of the above gratuitous nonsense to be a page turner and sell books. Yes, I know, it was written over 100 years ago. But the charm and delight are no less and present day authors would do well to "take a page out of" this book.

Books really don't get any better than this.

Anne of Green Gables Illustrated eBook Lucy Maud Montgomery W A J Claus Axioma Reviews

I have read this book even when I was such a small child, and I am now a well not gonna say, but still to this day, decades ego again, not saying, but love it still, one of the great that should be read in school still.
I loved this movie as a kid but had never read the book. It seems like it would be great but it was a bit too wordy for my little ones. We will wait a bit longer and try again. I love the story and I am excited to read the whole series to them.
I read this book when I was a child and loved it.. I am buying this one for my grandaughter for her birthday. I hope she likes it as much as I did.
Anne of Green Gables is a story about an orphan girl who find a loving home in Green Gables written by a fabulous author L.M..Montgomery .This story tells about Anne's adventures as she grows from a child into womanhood. Its a great read for young and old alike. A marvelous book
I am in my 60s and have re-read the Anne of Green Gables series many times. Montgomery's writing is so good, so vivid, that I can escape to the late 19th century and enjoy a visit there. Also, reading the Anne series gives insights into changes that have occurred in society and history since the delightful child heroine came on the scene. This particular copy on my is convenient and has illustrations from the movie of the same name starring Megan Follows as Anne, Richard Farnsworth as Matthew, and Patricia (can't remember her last name) as Marilla. I would recommend this for readers of all ages.
I read this book for the first time at age 63. Love it! (Having been a tomboy since birth, perhaps I could not have appreciated it sooner.) But as for now I find it refreshingly clean in today's milieu. I gather there are sequel stories about Anne, and will have a look at those as well.
This book was absolutely fantastic. There is a rapid pace, for Anne grows up quickly, but the time span explains a lot.

Anne starts off as a shy, timid young girl in an ugly dress and shockingly red hair who is an orphan. She eventually, through many mishaps and happenings big and small, grows into a gorgeous, proud, auburn-haired young woman who I grew to love dearly.

If you like realistic fiction, this is a good book for you. Also, get prepared for a tidal wave of varying mixed emotions. If you hate cliffhangers, do not get this book, as it ends on one(although the rest of Anne's life may be explained in other books). Overall, it was a captivating and interesting book that feels as of it took place in the past because it does, but will interest the modern world with prestige and delight, mixed with tragedy and closeness to many. Let yourself be captured in the fatasmical(which I mean to say)book. Montgomery has created a prevailing and historical novel. Don't wait any longer-buy this amazing novel. Buy it NOW.
